Present Perfect Tense menunjukkan sesuatu yang telah/sudah selesai dilakukan, sementara Present Perfect Continuous Tense menunjukkan sesuatu yang belum selesai dilakukan.

Persamaan Present Perfect dan Present Perfect continuous Tense

Kedua tenses ini sama-sama menyatakan sesuatu/kejadian/kegiatan yang menghubungkan masa lalu dengan masa sekarang, dan keduanya memulai sesuatu/kejadian/kegiatan dari masa lampau.

Perbedaan Present Perfect dan Present Perfect continuous Tense

  1. Bandingkan kedua kalimat berikut ini.
    – I’ve been decorating my house. (Fokus pada kegiatan decorating, dan kegiatan tersebut belum selesai dilakukan)
    – I’ve painted my house. (Fokus pada hasil yang telah dilakukan. Kegiatan mengecatnya sudah selesai, dan sekarang bisa dilihat hasil mengecatnya)

    Disini, kita menggunakan Present Perfect Continuous untuk sesuatu yang belum selesai dilakukan.
  2. Bandingkan kedua kalimat berikut ini.
    – I have read that novel you lent me. I finished it yesterday.
    – I have been reading that novel you lent me. I have got another 60 pages to read.

    Present Perfect (I have read) menyatakan pemikiran tentang sesuatu yang telah selesai/sudah selesai dilakukan. Present Perfect Continuous menyatakan sesuatu belum selesai dilakukan.
  3. Bandingkan kedua kalimat berikut ini.
    – She has been writing emails for four hours.
    – She has written 12 messages.

    Present Perfect Continuous (has been writing) menyatakan seberapa lama sesuatu terjadi. Present Perfect (has written) menyatakan seberapa banyak sesuatu telah terselesaikan.
  4. bandingkan kedua kalimat berikut ini.
    – I have worked here for thirty years.
    – I usually work in London but I have been working in Birmingham for the last three weeks.

    Gunakan Present Perfect ketika kita melihat sesuatu secara permanen, dan gunakan Present Perfect Continuous untuk sesuatu yang terlihat hanya sementara.

dan

Subject + has + been + present participle (V-ing) untuk subject He, she, It

sedangkan

Pola kalimat Present Perfect Tense

Subject + have + past participle (Verb 3) untuk subject They, We, I, You

dan

Subject + has + past participle (Verb 3) untuk subject He, she, It.
