Present Perfect Tense merupakan bentuk kata kerja yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kegiatan/aksi yang telah dimulai pada masa lampau dan masih berlanjut hingga saat ini atau telah selesai pada suatu waktu di masa lampau, namun efeknya masih bisa kita rasakan hingga saat ini.

Fungsi

Fungsi dari Present Perfect adalah:

• Untuk menyatakan kegiatan/aksi yang telah terjadi pada masa lampau namun efeknya masih bisa kita rasakan hingga saat ini.
  – Emily has locked the door, and now we can’t open it.
  (Emily telah mengunci pintu, dan sekarang kita tidak bisa membukanya)
  (mengunci pintunya sudah terjadi, efeknya ‘tidak bisa buka pintu’ masih terasa)
  
  
• Untuk menyatakan pengulangan kegiatan/aksi yang telah terjadi, kapan waktu pengulangan kegiatan/aksi tersebut tidak penting.
  – Emily has written three poems this month.
  
  
• Untuk menyatakan kegiatan/aksi yang dimulai pada masa lampau dan masih berlanjut hingga sekarang (penggunaan dengan for & since).
  – I have lived here for ten years.
  
  
• Present Perfect Tense digunakan untuk menunjukkan kejadian yang terjadi/belum pernah terjadi pada waktu yang tidak spesifik. Kapan waktu pasti terjadinya tidaklah penting.
  – I have never seen snow.

Rumus

Ada dua macam bentuk kalimat, yaitu kalimat verbal (menggunakan kata kerja) dan kalimat nominal (bukan menggunakan kata kerja).  Keduanya memiliki rumus berbeda.

Present Perfect Verbal

kalimat verbal adalah kalimat yang predikatnya menggunakan kata kerja, berikut pola kalimatnya

Subject   + have/has   + past participle (verb-3)   + complement

Subject : I, you, we, they, she, he, it
have → digunakan untuk subject I, you, we, they
has → digunakan untuk subject she, he, it

Contoh:

• I have eaten apple.
• She has eaten apple.
• We have eaten apple.

Present Perfect Nominal

kalimat Nominal adalah kalimat yang predikatnya bukan kata kerja, berikut pola kalimatnya

Subject   + have/has   + been + complement

Subject : I, you, we, they, she, he, it
have → digunakan untuk subject I, you, we, they
has → digunakan untuk subject she, he, it

Contoh:

• I have been here since June 3rd.
• She has been here since June 3rd.
• They have been here since June 3rd.

Ciri utama dari bentuk kalimat ini adalah adanya not yang terletak setelah have/has

Present Perfect Tense Verbal Negatif

Subject   + have/has   + not + past participle (verb-3)   + complement

atau

Subject   + have/has   + never + past participle (verb-3)   + complement

Subject : I, you, we, they, she, he, it
have → digunakan untuk subject I, you, we, they
has → digunakan untuk subject she, he, it
never → digunakan ketika sesuatu belum/tidak pernah dilakukan sebelumnya
yet → digunakan di akhir kalimat pada kalimat negatif

Contoh:

• I have never eaten apple.
• She has eaten apple.
• We haven’t eaten apple.

Present Perfect Tense Nominal Negatif

Subject   + have/has   + not + been   + complement

atau

Subject   + have/has   + never + been   + complement

Subject : I, you, we, they, she, he, it
have → digunakan untuk subject I, you, we, they
has → digunakan untuk subject she, he, it
never → digunakan ketika sesuatu belum/tidak pernah dilakukan sebelumnya
yet → digunakan di akhir kalimat pada kalimat negatif

Contoh:

• I haven’t been here since June 3rd.
• She hasn’t been here since June 3rd.
• They have never been here.

Present Perfect Tense Interogatif

Present Perfect Tense Verbal Interogatif Yes/No Question

Untuk membuat kalimat tanya yang jawabannya ya/tidak, letakkan have/has di awal kalimat

have/has   + Subject   + past participle (verb-3)   + complement

atau

have/has   + Subject  + ever +  past participle (verb-3)   + complement

Subject : I, you, we, they, she, he, it
have → digunakan untuk subject I, you, we, they
has → digunakan untuk subject she, he, it
ever → digunakan ketika menanyakan sudah pernahkah?

Contoh:

• Have you ever gone to Yogyakarta?
• Has she ever gone to Yogyakarta?
• Have you finished?

Present Perfect Tense Verbal Interogatif W/H Question

Untuk membuat kalimat tanya dengan w/h, letakkan w/h sebelum have/has di awal kalimat

W/H  + have/has   + Subject +   past participle (verb-3)   + complement

Subject : I, you, we, they, she, he, it
W/H → What, Who, Where, When, Why, How,
have → digunakan untuk subject I, you, we, they
has → digunakan untuk subject she, he, it

Present Perfect Tense Nominal Interogatif Yes/No Question

Untuk membuat kalimat tanya yang jawabannya ya/tidak, letakkan have/has di awal kalimat

have/has   + Subject   + been + complement

atau

have/has   + Subject  + ever + been   + complement

Untuk membuat kalimat tanya dengan w/h, letakkan w/h sebelum have/has di awal kalimat

W/H → What, Who, Where, When, Why, How,
have → digunakan untuk subject I, you, we, they
has → digunakan untuk subject she, he, it

Contoh Kalimat

Berikut adalah contoh kalimat penggunaan Present Perfect Tense.

Positif

Kalimat yang tidak mengandung kata not

• I have ever read that book.

Negatif

Kalimat yang mengandung not atau never. Penggunaan not bisa disingkat menjadi n’t

• I haven’t got any mail so far.

Interogatif

Kalimat tanya.

• Where have they been?
