Definisi

Future Continuous Tense atau Future Progressive Tense merupakan bentuk kata kerja yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian yang akan sedang berlangsung pada suatu waktu di masa yang akan datang dengan keterangan waktu yang spesifik.

Fungsi

Future Continuous Tense berfungsi untuk:
  • menyatakan kejadian yang sedang berlangsung pada suatu waktu di masa yang akan datang
  • menggunakan keterangan waktu yang spesifik.   • menyatakan kejadian yang sedang berlangsung di masa yang akan datang ketika ada kejadian lain yang juga terjadi di masa yang akan datang.

Rumus

Berikut ini merupakan rumus atau pola kalimat dari Future Continuous Tense. Subject    + will / shall    + be + present participle (verb-ing)    + complement Subject : I, you, we, they, she, he, it will → digunakan untuk I, you, we, they, she, he, it shall → digunakan untuk I dan We Contoh:
  • I will be eating at seven o’clock tonight.
  • She will be eating at seven o’clock tonight.

Future Continuous Tense Negatif

Ciri utama dari bentuk kalimat ini adalah adanya not yang terletak diantara will/shall dan be Subject    + will / shall  + not + be  + present participle (verb-ing)  + complement Subject : I, you, we, they, she, he, it will → digunakan untuk I, you, we, they, she, he, it shall → digunakan untuk I dan We Contoh:
  • I won’t be eating at 6 o’clock tomorrow evening.
  • She won’t be eating at 6 o’clock tomorrow evening.
  • We shan’t be eating at 6 o’clock tomorrow evening.

Future Continuous Tense Interogatif

Ciri utama dari bentuk kalimat ini adalah will/shall berada di awal kalimat sebelum subject. will / shall    + Subject +    be + present participle (verb-ing)    + complement Subject : I, you, we, they, she, he, it will → digunakan untuk I, you, we, they, she, he, it shall → digunakan untuk I dan We Contoh:
  • Will you be having dinner at 6 o’clock tomorrow evening?
  • Will she be having dinner at 6 o’clock tomorrow evening?
  • Shall we be having dinner at 6 o’clock tomorrow evening?

Future Continuous Tense dan Simple Present Tense

Biasanya bentuk kata kerja Future Continuous Tense digunakan bersamaan dengan Simple Present Tense. Perhatikan pola pembentukan kalimatnya di bawah ini. Contoh:
  • I will be watching television when you come tonight.
  • She will be watching television when you come tonight.

Kalimat nya tidak mengandung kata not
  • We shall be making a delicious cake this Saturday night.
  • He will be staying at the shop at 4 o’clock this afternoon.

  • They will be eating pizza at 6 tonight.

Negatif

Kalimat ini mengandung kata not
  • We shan’t be making a delicious cake this Saturday night.
  • He won’t be staying at the shop at 4 o’clock this afternoon.
  • This time tomorrow we won’t be playing badminton.
  • They won’t be eating pizza at 6 o’clock tonight.

Interogatif

Penggunaan dalam kalimat tanya.
  • Shall we be making a delicious cake Saturday night?
  • Will he be staying at the shop at 4 o’clock this afternoon?
  • Shall we be playing badminton this time tomorrow?
  • Will they be eating pizza at 6 o’clock tonight?
